Commodity
A working site, a domain and email. You supply the brand.
There are four tiers of commercial value, and the jump from one to the next is a change in kind rather than degree. We build in all four — a custom website, a registered domain and branded email in every case — but what sits around that work is completely different at each level. Find the tier you are actually operating in before you spend anything.
Almost every category can be sliced this way. They are not points on one continuous line — the jump from premium to luxury is a change in the logic of value itself.
| Tier | Logic of value | What the customer is buying |
|---|---|---|
| Commodity | Price against a functional standard | The function, done properly |
| Mass | Trust, consistency, availability | Reliable function, plus reassurance |
| Premium | Demonstrable superiority — measurable, comparative, justified | The best-performing option for the money |
| Luxury | Non-comparative. Value is symbolic, cultural and relational | Access to a world, and what owning it says |
Premium justifies. Luxury does not. A premium brand says here is why we cost more than them — it lives inside a comparison set and is vulnerable to anyone who matches its specification more cheaply. A luxury brand refuses the comparison entirely. Its argument is not better; it is ours. Nearly every expensive branding mistake traces back to a business that claimed one tier while operating on the logic of another.
Every tier delivers a custom-built website, a registered domain and branded email. What changes is how much brand thinking sits underneath it — and how much we refuse to do.
A working site, a domain and email. You supply the brand.
A five-page site on a consistent visual system, with the identity to hold it together.
A fully custom site and a documented identity system built to win a comparison.
A bespoke build and a full brand dossier, for a house that intends to refuse comparison.
Ratios between rungs: 3.0× · 2.7× · 3.0×. Wide enough that each is a real decision, close enough that the next is visible from the one below.
Not a theme with your logo dropped into it. Every tier is built to your content and your structure — the difference between tiers is how much design and strategy sits above the build, not whether the build is real.
Hand-written, fast, responsive on real devices, and accessible. You own the code and the hosting account. Nothing we build holds you hostage.
Registered in your name, in your account, with DNS configured and SSL active. We administer it during the build and hand over the keys at the end. Domains registered in an agency's name are one of the most common and least defensible traps in this industry.
Branded mailboxes — you@yourbrand.co.za — configured with SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail actually arrives rather than landing in spam. Set up on your phone and laptop before we finish.
The number of mailboxes scales with the tier, from two to unlimited.
We do not run discount cycles on our own work, we do not hold your domain, and we do not take a tier engagement where we think you are buying above your position. If the honest answer is that you need Mass and you have asked for Luxury, we will say so and quote the lower tier. That refusal costs us money, which is the only reason it means anything.
If you are not sure which tier you are in, open the two you are choosing between and read what each one refuses to do. The refusals are more diagnostic than the inclusions.
